A short while ago our scientists shot down a Low Earth Orbit satellite by an Anti-Satellite Missile. The operation was done by an A-SAT. Anti- Satellite weapons are developed to destroy satellites. India now becomes the 4th Nation after U.S, Russia and China who shot down a low earth orbit satellite in space. Through this India has entered its name as an elite space power.
The News was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the entire operation as a rare achievement that put the Nation tall in the club of space super powers. A highly-complex mission was safely conducted by our efficient scientist. This mission puts India to highly specialized and modern capability Nation.
Addressing the Nation he said “In the Journey of every nation three comes some moments that bring us pride and leaves a historic impact on our next generations. Today is one such moment”. He further added “India has successfully tested the Anti-Satellite (A-SAT) Missile. Wishes to every citizen of this Nation on the success of #Mission Shakti”, and later tweeted about this on his account.
He also cleared that the action was not taken against any country and it was a pre-determined target on a satellite orbiting at a 300km altitude.
The Anti-Satellite (A-SAT) missile was made by the Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) destroyed the LEO satellite in a span of just 3 minutes.
This is a strong step in boosting the protection layer of the country. It will further protect the nation from disharmony and bring peace to nation. We can’t be more grateful to our scientist who worked hard and made this silver lining.
